This is symbolic.
The barbed wire symbolizes the prison that is his mind.
The bracer represents the things that are keeping him chained down.
The outstretched hand shows his longing for escaping his mind, wishing to think outside the box.
I've escaped this prison, but just barely... I remember it in my dreams, there was a brick wall instead of a fence, I was being held down by ropes. I remember one night I told myself: "I am stronger than this, I am better than this, I can be so much more if I escape. I broke the ropes and jumped the wall. It may have been imaginary, but it felt so real. Now I cringe to think of how dark a place the human mind can be.

I was listening to the song "if everyone cared" by Nickel back while looking through some photos. And when I saw this I totaly flipped. Its really amazing, it looks really powerful in emotions and all i love it
