Xuân Cao Mạnh, also known as Karma, is a Vietnamese mutant with the ability to mentally possess and control the minds of others. Born into a family torn apart by war, Karma and her twin brother Trân Cao Mạnh were forced to flee Vietnam due to their mutant abilities. Recruited by Professor Xavier, Karma became the first leader of the New Mutants, a team of young mutants trained to control their powers and defend a world that fears them.

Throughout her career, Karma has faced numerous challenges, including battles with powerful adversaries like the Shadow King and Cameron Hodge. She has also grappled with personal struggles, such as the loss of her siblings and the burden of leadership within the New Mutants. Karma's path led her to become a mentor at the Xavier Institute, where she played significant roles in nurturing young mutants and facing external threats. Over time, she confronted her past, reconciled with her half-sister Da'o Cao Mạnh, and inherited her corporation, becoming a formidable force for mutantkind.

Karma relocated to Krakoa and reunited with her New Mutants teammates. They embarked on a mission to the Shi'ar Empire to bring back Cannonball home. Karma entered the Crucible to give her brother a chance at resurrection, ultimately accepting her fate in a duel with Moonstar. She has now finally found peace in a relationship with Galura.
