Indeed!

Although I visited the west midlands safari park recently, the Leopards have moved to a larger area in the reserve(according to staff) - I couldnt find them though

Nice natural looking shot! West Midlands safari park, I went there years ago! (I'm originally from the Midlands)

Thanks, glad you like it

The West Midlands Safari park is pretty awesome - I'd definetly go there in the future if you can. Just one tip - try to avoid really obvious peak times like bank holidays/easter hols/summer hols as it tends to be very crowded.

That's one of the best!!! Just for curiosity.. do you prefer to shoot with the canon or with the sony??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

James-Marsh In reply to tommythegame [2010-07-06 13:43:28 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

I Started with the Sony, obviously it has its moments as this is still one of my best pictures including the ones I took with my Canon 7D, but that having been said I find the Canon better generally, my success rate in terms of shots that didnt work vs the ones that did is far better with the Canon, and as it has more features and adjustments I can use it in a wider range of conditions and still get the picture I want(this is particularly the case in terms of ISO sensitivity and noise control).

I still have my Sony a350, and its better in terms of being smaller, lighter and having a vastly superior live view mode - other than these points the Canon 7D is better for everything else.

Thanks for the advice!!!,
I am undecided whether to buy the sony or canon..
It will be my first reflex camera!!

Congratulations again for the beautiful photo!!!

well if you have a good camera shop you can visit you may be able to try or handle some of the DSLR's you are thinking of buying, this is always a good idea so you can see how well it fits in your hands, and how heavy or otherwise it may be.

First I suggest you work out how much you can afford as this will be a major limiting factor - check out some online reviews of cameras in this price range and then see if you can handle one or more of these at a good camera shop before making your final decision.

The difficulty is there are no truly 'bad' cameras on the market today, you wont be dissappointed by a Sony (or an Olympus/Pentax/Samsung/Fuji/Panasonic) even if a typical shop will try to push you towards Nikon or Canon instead.

Anyway I digress - Thanks glad you like the pic

You're welcome!!!.. and Thanks again for the advices!!!! Very appreciated!!!

I will go to a camera shop next week! .. But as you have said..
They will push me to buy a Nikon or a Canon!!
(I've seen the big banner with the two brands that they have on the shop window!!!)

I have started take pictures only 2 months ago so probably also the most cheaper DSLR
camera will be fine for me!!

Thanks, you're right the light was just-about perfect, had I been taking the shot 10 minutes before or after it would not have worked out like this.

Glad you like it though

Thanks for the fav

The best part is the way the enclosure is made they leopard is just a few feet away from me whilst drinking (through thick polycarbonate so you dont see wire fences everywhere) - I admit I was lucky with the lighting on this day though

I got quite lucky with the position of the sun, and the leopard deciding to take a drink at that moment - I reeled off loads of shots and just one of them had the tongue licking the water...
