Intaglio (etching, engraving, aquatint, etc.) as opposed to relief (wood block, linoleum block, etc.).

oh - i see. i did a view etchings some year ago but i was not patient enough i guess... lithography and woodblock is working better for me. you did the monoprint directly on the plexiglas?

Yes, directly on the plexi.

is there any reason for using plexi? i did monoprints from glas and did not use any pressure beside from my hands,

Well, I created some of the designs on the plexi by running it through the press with all kinds of materials and ink, then running it through with the paper. Glass works fine, but can crack if the pressure is uneven due to the texture materials piled on. The press was essential to the kinds of images I was going for, as it supplied much greater pressure and applied it much more evenly than I could have done with my hands, therefore giving me exactly what I saw on the plate, in very high detail.

i see - sure - if you need pressure glass is not the right material for the clichΓ©. may i as how big the print of this piece is? it's about the detail - i'd love to see the original. and: did you print one time or are there several prints on one paper?
