Description A scavenger waits,
Until the end of oblivion has past,
to search and feast upon the waste lands,
like a vulture circles, dead meat.
After all, the scavenger knows
There are rich pickings, to trade,
in the waste lands of those battle fields,
in the ruins of those Cities, Ah to be A scavenger,
Yes that's the life for me.

Carrying on with the dystopia theme, Apocalyptic wastelands and other future events that may or may not occur, i decided to Think of the idea on the aftermath of War, an Apocalyptic war, And pondered on what a day in the life of a Scavenger would be like - so, i created this drawing, that mainly is in the line art\hatching style. I wanted the Character to have a steampunk slight appearance, some kind of artificial limb, A cape, I utility belt, pouches, Weapons and other items that you can see. The Figure is carrying a sack full of various objects, and sifting through the junk and other strange looking surreal items that are in the foreground of the drawing. the moon is full, there's some Strange looking Spherical objects and a pyramid object in the sky too. maybe probes or even drones ...who knows..

Harvey Jacks Is an Artist i admire very much, his smooth subtle style and character design is something quite fantastic to view, if you have time, go check his artwotk out. like most of these artists i adnire, they not only hold great artistic skill, they also have such wonderful imaginative minds and this particular artist gave such a beautiful analysis of the ''Scavenger'' that i just had to add his Thoughts and interperation of this drawing, read below;

''Scavengers background'' Described by Harvey Jacks

I keep thinking about this scavenger. Like on deeper levels. Obviously we get why he does it but is it all out of necessity? Is it somewhat out of boredom?

I’m now looking in the direction of enjoyment. Whose to say he Isn’t smiling under that visor? Perhaps his heart skips a beat when something rare and exciting catches his eye. Heck, I think I can hear him whistling in there! I wonder if he has a vast collection of trinkets and do dads back at his home? Like some stuff he collects as resource and others for his personal enjoyment. Oh but his bag is huge. It must all be for resource. Nah, can’t be. Look at all those pouches and pockets he has. That’s where the treasures go! Thats where he keeps those items that are near and dear to his heart. I knew he was a sentimental sap!
Next I’m wondering what he looks like from the pyramid’s pov? That thing can’t just be up there alone. It has to be piloted by someone or something. Whatever the case our scavenger friend seems to pay it no mind so that tells me it’s not such an odd occurrence. To him at least.

Like a leaf on a breeze, we just blew away...please enjoy the artwork.

I kind of mix a lot of my designs with all periods of history - this is only because of the my styles of art and studying images over the years that when i do draw anything from mind, that has this apocalyptic look then my artistic side will extract a mix of what my memory files have documented and then this is what you see, the result looks strange to say the least,

The hint of Blue and red colour, always has a profound effect on me, i just find it appealing.

Ah yes, The moon in the back was painted Digitally for a far away effect, if you stare at the thumbnail of this drawing for a while the scavenger in the foreground stands out, gives a 3d effect.

Thank you so much for your delightful comment my friend. XD

The same, a scavengers life must be extremely interesting, especially in a post apocalyptic Earth, think of the amount of junk and items to be sifted through.

Thank you again for your amazing and interesting comment XD

Amazing artwork, James! the main figure is fantastic and something that I like very much is to discover details in the environment, some symbolic and others very funny as the rock with the bubble pipe. I like your character designs

Thank's lLona, I've always loved the idea of a black and white, line-art Drawing with a hint of colour, so the Blue visor and rose liquid looks aesthetic, appealing to the eyes.

Thank you again for your lovely harmonic comments, they are greatly welcome lLona

This is so awesome my friend! The drawing contains all those moods and settings you described perfectly. I love too how the only colors are from his visor, arm piece, and what ever that liquid is pouring out from the duck kettle. This is one of those drawings I can stare at for hours.

JamesB000 In reply to TheJetBlackWings [2020-01-28 21:22:14 +0000 UTC]

I wanted to create the contrast between black and white with a hint of colour, it always appears aesthetically pleasing to me, so i'm so happy to know that you find the hint of blue in the visor and arm piece appealing too. i'll leave it up to you to figure out what that red liquid actually, is because, i'm at a loss too !

Thank you so very much for your perfect comment !!

TheJetBlackWings In reply to JamesB000 [2020-01-29 00:52:48 +0000 UTC]

I would say the liquid is some sort of fuel. It reminds me of off road diesel. We use it in our machines at work. It’s red in color but diesel fuel all the same.

I find it fits the theme of a post apocalyptic world torn apart by endless war. All that remains are the scraps for scavengers. Containing it in a giant duck kettle, well that’s just genius.

That’s my take anyway.

JamesB000 In reply to TheJetBlackWings [2020-01-29 10:30:28 +0000 UTC]

That is absolutely perfect, i was trying to come up with an idea and you've nailed, red Fuel !! yes i know the red Diesel, when i worked in the building trade, the cement mixers were fuelled by Diesel too and the diesel was red, so i know exactly what you mean !!

Your Analysis was Genius thank you indeed !!
