I can't really give you the entire answer, it is a process I made-up myself. But I will tell you that those colors were really in the smoke, in tiny amounts, I just found the ultimate way to pull the colors up without making them look unnatural.

Yes, she has a "Pinpoint Predictor" (as one of my local channels calls their weather system).

Thanks for your interest. It was pretty easy really, just two shots. A model holding a crystal ball and blowing. I told her "I'll put in some smoke later." Then I photographed some actual smoke, but found a way to make it truly colorful in the photography phase, that part I have to keep secret, since I think I invented that process. The colors in the smoke intertwine and were not added post production. TFM as my College Photography Prof used to say; "That's fuckin' magic!"

Thanks for the kind comments. What did people used to say to emphasize how much they liked something before someone invented the powerful emphasis word "Fuckin'"?

Much appreciated my friend! When photographing her with the crystal ball I had an inspiration and asked her to blow across the top of the ball. That was when the concept was born. Took me another two months to think of a way to photograph smoke with colorful strands and swirls

Thanks, we had fun doing these shots, although that crystal ball weighs about 15 lbs, feels like 50, so we had to work fast.

Wow James, this one just blew my mind away (no pun intended), even just seeing the thumbnail preview for the first time, I knew it was a fantastic shot. Just so amazing, great work, and hey those sunning eyes again, lovely.

thanks Mark! Yes, I had this one sitting around for a while, but was keeping in mind that I needed to make just the most amazing smoke for it. I finally got around to shooting some smoke last week, and it all came together.
