Thanks, this is a really meaningful image; a very personal expression of Breeanna's loneliness and worry while her soldier was away at war.

Thank you! This is one of my favs too. It has Breanna's powerful signature beauty but it also has such a story to tell. In her eye you can see her pain, longing, worry, love, and the amazing strength with which she carries all of that emotion. I have so much respect for this woman. I know what she went through when her soldier was at war. So glad her husband is home safely with her now.

She has a beautiful back (I know, odd thing to say!) that really makes those dog tags stand out. And the soft, sad look on her face is very poignant.

I think your interpretation is quite accurate! It is a sad and poignant image, but also very beautiful IMHO.

I agree, she looks like she's in the military herself, based on her unbelievable super-fitness-model physique. But she tells me she doesn't have to do a thing to maintain her shape.

I don't know what to love most about this shot... Breeanna, you're beautiful as always, as James captures so well. And on top of it all, a wonderful statement.
A side note: Not to get windy here, but my girlfriend/friends/family would tell you I have a soft spot for soldiers and their loved ones... Breeanna might usually be saved in my Artistic nude or Pin-up collections, but with this shot it didn't seam appropriate to add anywhere but straight up favorites, respectfully... Beautiful photo, both of you.

Thank you, yes this shot is really special. It is very personal, Breeanna sharing everything about herself. It's a portrait of her courage, strength, love, conviction, fears, hopes, loneliness; and lastly... her unequaled beauty.

I think it's one of the things that make her a remarkable model... besides being exceptionaly beautiful, she shows so much honesty in every frame. It's always so much more than just sexy. It goes to show the art involved on both sides of the camera... even as a sketch artist I find I learn more with photography. I hope you'll pass the message to her. Thanks for sharing your work.

Love the picture - hate the dA watermark.
There IS a better way to protect your work other than obscuring it behind an obscene blob of discoloration. You already know how to use a watermark - just put it where it makes sense.

JamesBrey In reply to WillingAccomplice [2010-12-09 17:43:46 +0000 UTC]
I'll consider myself spanked for over-use of the watermark. But if you had any idea how many of my images are getting ripped-off here on DA and posted everywhere, you might not be so harsh.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
WillingAccomplice In reply to JamesBrey [2010-12-10 14:15:16 +0000 UTC]
Didn't mean to be harsh. You're work is so beautiful it actually hurts to see it defaced by that big old dA watermark.
I understand about getting ripped off and it's very sad that there are people who stoop so low as to steal someone else's creative work. This, unfortunately, makes watermarks necessary. But I've noticed that some artist are able to use smaller watermarks, strategically placed so that they don't distract from the impact of the image yet make it impossible to steal. It does involve some extra work but your work is worth it.
Thanks for sharing the beauty.

I hate watermarks just as much as you do, but If I deem the image a potential target of theft, I have to use them in large measure, it is unfortunate.

Great picture (concept, pose, and, of course, model)! BUT... I agree with WillingAccomplice - "hate the dA watermark". I understand Your concerns but there are other ways to prevent scumbag thieves... luniara has the right idea here --> [link] . I am a devout DA and it breaks my heart to see a masterpiece SELF-defaced. I do NOT think The Mona Lisa would have been recognized, as the masterpiece that it is, if Leo signed his name and copy right ALL ACROSS her face and body.

JamesBrey In reply to sirprime8 [2011-02-27 01:10:46 +0000 UTC]
I think you are being a bit pushy about this. It's not your call. DA should certainly provide a way to adjust the visibility of the watermark, but it doesn't do that as of yet. I'm capable of doing it in photoshop, as I had done on this image, I placed my watermark low and very transparent. At first, that was the only watermark on this image. But then I realized that the images was very vulnerable to theft. I could place my name across the middle of the model's face and body, but that seems strangely egocentric to me, and too possessive. So I activated the DA watermark. It does suck, but it protects my image. Hundreds of my images have been stolen and I have found them on sites all over the world, including one guy who took my image, cropped-off my personal watermark, and entered the image in an illustration contest, submitted as his own work. All of that sucks more than a watermark.

What a beautiful photo and sentiment...easily strong enough to weather the remarks of a few people who obviously have no business being on an art site. I don't see any evidence of Barbie in this pic...I see a strikingly beautiful woman's strikingly beautiful face and back...and as a veteran, I see a salute to comrades in harm's way...thank both of you for this image

Thanks, yes that one thoughtless and idiotic remark was a terrible way to start out a fantastic image like this. But we are back on track now, people are seeing what this image is really about, thanks again to Breeanna for telling us what it means to her, and for putting it in its true context. BTW, Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

This is a very moving peice. As a retired veteran I thank you for this work as a reminder of why wer fought, why wer fight, and all of the things that are worth making the sacrafice for.
On this day I am thankful for those who served, are serving, and those who will answer the call in the future. I am thankful for the living, the wounded, the departed, and the ones who we leave behind who support us, and fear for us.

soldiers are often looked up to as the strength of the nation but the strength they need is back at home waiting for them.

Bree, I really didn't tell the entire story of this image other than the title; because I try not to tell much personal info about models as you know. But thanks for sharing your story and giving more of the meaning of the image to everyone. Actually, I thought people would be able to read a lot of that from the title and the Dog Tags, but honestly, I think a lot of people just see your beauty and they get light-headed and don't think about the image too deeply. So anyway, again, thanks for telling them the meaning! And may your soldier always stay safe where ever his duties take him.
