Seriously, the novel is almost always better than the movie, because the movie you make up in your mind is always gonna be better than whatever any director is able to conjure.
Not to say "Silver Bullet" is without its merits, mind you. The werewolf effects are fantastic, and Gary Busey is a lot of fun, but overall it feels more generic than anything else.
Watch "An American Werewolf in London", it's way better.

You know your werewolf movie is good when Gary Busey is not the most terrifying character in it.
