Another Personal Project done, and I just don't learn, don't I?

After last week I said I was going to look for a more simple, more approachable project I went straight ahead with this one. But much to my surprise I managed to get this piece done one day and one hour ahead of schedule (I work on these roughly between 4-3 hours every day). I got fantastic feedback from my friends and who gave me a hand when I got bogged down with the pose and the anatomy, and I am sure that's what gave me the speed in the end.

This taught me something important: Asking for (and getting) feedback isn't going to slow you down. In fact, it's most likely to make you go faster. Feedback is like a GPS. You don't really need it if you are sure of where you're going, but having one is always welcome and it helps you see your goal much better.

So there's no way around it, is there? I've been wanting to draw something related to that Prince of Persia game that came out in 2008. You may not remember it, but I do and I also remember how much everybody hated its guts for being too easy. Well I liked it, and I also quite liked the characters in it, though I only remember three of them (for scientifically that's enough so whatever). Elika doesn't have much personality going for her, and she's sort of like a fan character based on the Princess from Ico, but I love her design and the way her abilities work with the gameplay, from the platforming to the sword wielding. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't gasp when she gets killed at the end (spoilers for a 12 year old game). So I went and made a furry version of Elika, because it's more fun than drawing human Elika.

I was split between making her a tiger or an eagle, so in the end I mixed them both and made a gryphon. I think it works fine with the way she is in the game.
