Surrounded by flames, in an inhospitable environment, with all odds against him, and nothing but his natural strength to fence against the dreadful creature that towered before him. Steel Heart could only feel sad, hoping to have a few more obstacles to make this fight at least entertaining. Why not adding some steel spikes covered in acid? Or bats engulfed in flames?

I know I keep saying that these commissions have been a lot of fun to work on, but I honestly can only describe them as such. Fun. A lot of fun, actually. This one in particular took me a little longer than I planned because I kept adding layer of detail after layer of detail on the background. The original description didn't specify what the monster would be, or who the mares in distress were. So I made the monster what could be interpreted as a reptilian foot and tail, and made the three mares in distress Puffy, Movie Slate and Cotton Bucket. I wonder how long Movie Slate has before her hair catches fire and turns her into a charred little pony.
