So today’s episode was really nice, actually. I really like these guys, the Students Six as they are called it seems.
This was a good moment, when they find the remains of the tree and they are torn up by looking at what’s left of it. This was a bit of scribbling and some doodling without a specific structure in mind. It’s not even a recreation of the actual shot, the characters are differently placed.
I said I wasn't going to do this a weekly thing, but an idea crossed my mind as I was watching the episode anyway, so here you guys have it. For a quick doodle I think it turned out quite alright, though I think this is one of those drawings that looks better in the thumbnail than when you actually open it up and zoom in, where you can see all the lines and scratchings of the different brushes I used. It sure came out more colourful than last week's doodle, though.

I was doodling this while the episode played, so I had the concept more or less down by the time they got to that scene, and everything else after the base colours is just shading and highlights. I use Photoshop and that program has access to a ton of brushes with different textures, which help with pictures like this one. This is something that my art teachers used to call "stain" or "mancha", which basically means "the drawing is messy and not very defined but from a distance it looks more cohesive. So you sacrifice definition in favour of feel, which is why I don't call this a finished piece, it's just a doodle.
It's something I stopped doing and always been wanting to go back to, makes for good warm up before starting a big picture. I'm really glad you like it so much!
