Commission forThis one took an insane amount of time for something as simple as this. The poses aren't anything special, but it's still five characters in a fully colored picture with a background. It was definitely worth the time, not every day I get to draw these guys in the same picture. Plus I need to draw more Shining Armor and Cadence together, even if Shiny is all confused and not sure what he just walked into.
We can safely assume that Fake Cadence and Fake Twilight are changelings, what with the green magic, and the glowing green eyes, and being all discolored. I also removed their cutie marks. I think it makes sense, why would a changeling recreate the pony's cutie mark if their talent is already established as copying other ponies? I don't know, I liked the idea of Changelings being unable to recreate the cutie mark of a pony.

It's probably because they were banished to a place so isolated that they can't get any up to date news about Twilight Sparkle and have only their memories of what she was when they attacked: the Princess' student. Therefore, they must've thought that she was still a student when they attacked this time.
I guess that they'll have to explain that to Chrysalis after they fail to defeat the real Twilight and Cadence.

Without cutie mark changelings would not fool anypony and their disquise would be compromissed everytime (unless they disquise as CMC)

They ultimately fail, but I just love this idea. It makes no sense why they would be able to recreate cutie marks. Maybe they can wear patches as substitutes.

Cutie Mark is part of pony and changelings can replicate said pony, so their cutie mark to, and what kind of love stealing experts they would be if they cannot fool anypony (they would die from starvation in no time), sorry but it makes no sense.

A Changeling's special talent is to copy other ponies. I don't see it recreating cutie marks, to be perfectly honest. I like this idea, and I don't intend to let go of it, sorry if it doesn't make sense to you.

Cutie mark is as much part of a pony as their mane and tail, so no copying it makes no sense (cutie mark is not hat that can be taken off and put on).

What I want to know is, why do the actual Twilight and Cadence look.... evil? I mean they're smiling/smirking at the obviously unhappy changelings and making the changelings look like the innocent ones.

The real Cadence and the real Twilight have fought the Changelings before, they are confident that they will win again as they know their weakness. The fake Cadence and fake Twilight look this mangled because they just crawled out of whatever hole the Season 2 finale blasted them into.
I was getting tired of seeing the heroes being represented as weak or insecure. It's time we give them some confidence in themselves.
