Description
Enterprise Class GEV (General Exploration Vehicle) Malina is a 97m Starship commissioned by the Greater Earth Alliance in 2193. She is on a three year mission to explore life bearing planets and moons in the Jihitus system.Β
She has a fully sentient and independent mind. Her UFO like abilities include trans warp drive, antigravity and dephasing (think of this as the ghost like ability to pass through mountains or allow asteroids, projectiles or energy to pass through her without interaction).
Imagine a post-scarcity future in which money, work, war, hunger and poverty don't exist and in which people are truly free. An uncountably vast number of technologically and spiritually advanced Starfaring civilizations throughout the universe have already achieved this level of existence and so shall we.
Designed and rendered on Procreate using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil.

Absolutely beautiful! Smooth, sleek spacecraft are amazing.Β
You know, there is a concept in quantum mechanics similar to what is achieved by Dephasing called "Quantum Tunneling". It's where a particle has a probability of it 'teleporting' through a solid mass without being blocked by the electron cloud of its atoms. Perhaps that can be scaled up for macroscopic objects.Β
Gravity manipulation tech is one thing sci-fi films don't get into detail about or don't use at all. Honestly, but without certainty, I think it could be a possible technology in the real world with the right physics model which would likely have to be a Unified Field Theory that could explain what gravity truly is: which would be quantum gravity. This is something String Theory, Loop Quantum Gravity, and PhEONIX Theory (an obscure UFT candidate) are searching for. This could reveal how to manipulate it and not just how to repel in the form of anti-gravity but turn it off and manipulate its direction and magnitude. This could also lead to warp drive since it requires a g-well (gravity) in front of the craft and a g-hill (anti-gravity) behind it. But of course, that's just speculation.Β
As for concept of a post scarcity civilization, that is the ideal future I, too, imagine for humanity. Since money is obsolete, that would truly eliminate corruption and suffering for all. I really hope it will be achieved in our lifetimes because this setting here is every explorer's ultimate dream.

I entertain the image that this vessel does not require mechanical landing gear.

It doesn't require landing gear. It can silently levitate indefinitely. However it does have a backup landing gear.

No idea why i've missed so many of your recent images. It seems like I'm not getting notifications from deviantart, or something.
I love the sleek design of this ship, which implies the technology used in its construction has transcended the need for clunky 'functional' details, like hydraulics, external sensors and radiators.

Thanks, I really like smooth minimalist elegant forms when it comes to science fiction spacecraft. One of my all time favorite designs is the Jupiter 2 from lost in space. I think the gritty, clunky grimy style used in Star Wars is really cool too when done well, and Star Wars really does it well. However when it comes to projecting a feeling of something very very advanced and peaceful, I think smooth skins and minimal detail is more convincing. I like the idea that a sufficiently advanced spacefaring civilization has no weapons or military as they would be completely immune from any kind of weapon and are themselves completely disinterested in conquest, material gain or power. They live a Love filled quest for exploration, joint inter-species projects adventure, knowledge and growth.

I very much like this!
Nice work, btw.

It is almost a Star Trek like premise.
I always liked positive views to the future and i'm glad other ppl do the same!

It is indeed inspired by Star Trek. Imagining and then rendering such a future helps manifest that reality. I wish more science fiction showed us a more positive and exciting future.Β
Another big influence is Iain Banks and his Culture series of sf novels.

LOL @ GEV Β
Another very Culture-y piece... and I in no way intend that as anything other than a compliment. I wish I was up to this sort of standard with my own iPad Pro and Pencil... Β
