Did you know that the real Merlin was numbered 30740 in British Railways stock?

I'm honestly shocked enough that a King Arthur-class engine actually exists.

It is quite interesting regarding Merlin. There was a King Arthur (N15) named "Merlin", but was actually No. 740. Also, the real No. 783 was called "Sir Gillemere". However, the real No. 783 carried three funnels as a wartime experiment to reduce exhaust, to prevent being spotted by aircraft bombers. So, the wartime grey livery suits Merlin well.

I wonder what the big engines would think of Merlin's three funnels.
