Having left for this kayaking trip on a Friday afternoon, the boat launch was very busy with a variety of people hoping to get away for the weekend. With the pandemic seemingly winding down, the lockdown (almost) being a distant memory, everyone was trying to get away for one last trip before the cold of winter began to take hold. I was hoping to get away from the crowds and find some peace and quiet within the natural world but my initial encounter, at the boat launch made me think that this may not be possible. Fortunately, once I was more than 10kms from the access point things began to calm down and I saw very few people for most of the rest of the week long trip.
