Description Man in the Water

One of the issues I ran into while photographing this project were the bugs, while it's not really a big problem, it can turn an otherwise enjoyable shooting experience into an uncomfortable one.  In some of the locations, mosquitoes were the biggest problem, I also ran into ticks and one other insect that at the time I had no idea what it was. While shooting on the Toronto Islands there were a couple of times I felt a stinging sensation on my body, not seeing anything out of the ordinary near the affected area I just tried to ignore it.  Then as dusk was nearing during my second day of shooting I felt that sting yet again, I looked at my stomach and found a tiny little ant crawling around, turns out it was a European Fire Ant.  European Fire Ants native to Europe and some parts of Asia were first spotted in British Columbia in 2010 and since then have been found in other parts of Canada including Toronto and other areas of Ontario.

Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
