Description
From my series: Man in the WaterThe breakwall I am standing on top of in this photo was completely submerged by high water levels about a month before this photo was taken. Caused by a wet spring and a faster than normal thaw of the winter snow the Muskoka River and the surrounding Muskoka big three lakes, Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph all experienced higher than normal water levels. This created headaches and property destruction for many of the seasonal and permanent residents in the surrounding areas. You can see some of the destruction that occurred surrounding Bracebridge Falls, with docks being destroyed and debris carried down river and being deposited onto the shorelines. The water then made its way south into the great lakes significantly raising the water levels there as well, this allowed me to continue photographing this body of work well into the summer months.
Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
