Description
Another digital painting created from scratch in Photoshop CS5. As usual I used the vanishing point tool to set up my perspective and used the lasso tools to get the crisp edges. About 4 days work in total. The original image is about 9 or 10 thousands pixels wide. The image was created for Opposable Games, based in Bristol, Uk. This image is not available to buy as it's copyrighted by the client.

How did you do those floorboards?!

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to linniie-POO [2013-04-04 09:19:34 +0000 UTC]
Very easy - i create a square shape with patterns on it, duplicate it, merge the layers then copy the new tiled image into the vanishing point grids in photoshop. All in perfect perspective. Then I just paint texture and lighting over the top on new layers.

That is super awesome! I'd want a room just like that if I was an evil scientist.

This is so cool. Simple... I love when concept artists come with "good old-fashioned" (in veins of Alien, Outland etc.) and at the same time bring it to the new level.

Thanks PS - yes, it seems that there is a lot of game development going on where old fashioned designing is required at the moment, rather than the ultra high level advanced stuff. I think there may be an over-saturation of super futuristic art out there which is beginning to all look very similar. The game developers on this project suggested 'Aliens' as inspiration.

All I know is its a room full of salvaged equipment. Other than that its top secret until the game is released.

Wow thank yu for adding the time you needed to finish this! I tend to get frustrated, when I see people pload bunches of awesome art and I think I could never make it. I now see how much work this beutiful piece of art was and that I maybe - someday - able to achieve something like this, too. Beautiful art.

Totally superb, as usual! Your images really are top-notch!
If I was to knit-pick, I would suggest that your neat-and-tidy mind had balanced the objects spread over the desk just a little too evenly. Also, the shadows on the can (?) and box next to it don't seem to take into account the light multiple monitors.
...but that it being super-finicky! The image is excellent! Great job!

I'm driven mad by this sort of thing; try to make it look natural and it looks like the bedroom of a 12 year old, clean it up and it likes a Feng Shui expert has been at work!

The flip side to being a perfectionist is the time spent fussing and fussing. I am driven mad too but its hard to change.
