I do like it, I just don't see where you made those costs. that's like 100 pound the day.

In my recent job as an unskilled worker at a special school I earned £130 per day for the council. My friends are all graphic designers, earning £300 per day doing freelance. An established concept artist I know did a few characters for a local design business and charged £1000 per character, which took 3 days for each character to be completed. A recent job I applied for paid £200 per day for a concept art role (Rare, based in the UK). An agency contacted me today and said the going rate in the business is about £180 per day (intermediate level), working in-house for a large company, but over £200 for the very large companies. A senior concept artist would earn more.
I am repeatedly told I charge too low, by professionals.
The reason why it seems so much on here is that a lot of teenagers can charge a lot less, naturally. Also, the internet has opened up the opportunity for artists from the developing world to get involved. They obviously charge microscopic amounts because $1 US dollar is worth about $16 in say, the Philippines, meaning they actually earn a higher rate than most of us because of the exchange rate etc.
My rates are low generally, but there will always be people willing to do work for peanuts. If I did that my £900 ($1400) monthly living costs just would not get paid and I would have to work for minimum wage somewhere. The high cost of living in the west forces us to charge more, but only businesses can afford the work of course. I am just not in a position to charge any less, even if I wanted to. MY equipment cost me £3000 and I spend 14 hours every day learning art. No one should do all that for free or nearly free.

Well if you have to live from it, then it makes sense.Great to hear there are still people out there making a living out of it! you're surely devoted.

Thanks for that eye-opener
