Description
The 5th painting I have done for maiagame. This image is not available to buy as it's copyrighted by the client.maiagame.com/index.php - website
www.pcgamer.com/previews/maia-… - PCgamer
All my usual techniques, painted from scratch in Photoshop, using the vanishing point filter to set up perspective guides.
A very clean required look, so I only used the default hard round and soft round brushes to avoid unwanted textures.
To prevent all that horrid 'color banding' with gradients and subtle tone changes I changed my usual Photoshop bit mode from 8bit to 16bit, which is LOADS better with the 1000's of extra color tones.

Lighting is well done and the reflections are great. The sign adds a big of humor too. :3

I meant "bit" not "big". But you did a good job hinting at it.

You need to stop doing renders and calling them paintings...or start...i guess. Ugh it's so hard with your images to tell which is which. The reflections on this one...DAMN! You got them madd skillzz. I just got CS6 Master and I'm scared I have never used any adobe products before...I'm boned huh?

Thanks - the reflections are easier than you think - simply make a duplicate of an area, flip it vertically, distort it into perspective and set it to color dodge or overlay, depending on whether you want the dark's or lights to show. Then reduce opacity.
The master collection is awesome. I have the CS5 version. However, only photoshop is required for what I do. The rest is for graphic design but the programs are easily as huge as Photoshop, if not larger. I gave up with Indesign and Illustrator, just so bloody time consuming, but AWESOME programs.

Sometimes, just got to try and guess which objects will be at the right angle to reflect.

Trial and error, does it ever end? probably not 35 years and it's still the most time tested method of getting the results you really want. Oh that and happy accidents (I like them more)

Yeah I think most of the best things come out by accident.

Good that it's becoming well known then.
I just do the environment promotional stuff. Other artists do all the rest. Although I think I will be doing props soon too. I better get prop-researching!
