Oh hell yeah.

I tried a different technique remembering a long time ago that it's not how fast you put it together but deliberately attempting to place each stroke. Kind of difficult with the opacity of the brush up so high (which explains my struggling lately).

I tried not only setting the tablet to hard input but also dropped the opacity of the brush (black) down to about 30% and tried building up the figure more slowly. Made for some wicked shadows.

I mean it's not perfect, but I really like the result.

In my haste to try the technique I forgot to separate the layers (usually I draw on a transparent layer). However, I remember a technique I caught from some artist (who did amazing f'ing work btw) and he used a color layer over top of the shading layer (black and white) to accentuate the shadows beneath or give them some life.

I think this was fun. Not perfect by any means but that's not the point of this stuff. Overall i'm happy with it!
