Description
This is, theoretically, every Power Ranger in the franchise's first 15 years. And you will notice it includes the upcoming Jungle Fury Rangers, because 2008 is the 15th Anniversary of the franchise (not 2007, as Bandai says. 1993 + 15 = 2008).Related content

As you yourself have somewhat noted, Sentai started in 1975 in Japan (the franchise wasn't known as Super Sentai until 1979, when the series Battle Fever J introduced the use of piloted mecha).
This piece is done as a tribute to Power Rangers, which started in 1993 in America. Just because PR utilizes Super Sentai footage doesn't retroactively make the older Sentai shows part of the Power Rangers franchise.

Nice job. Love it. Just one question.
Where is the Magna Defender?
I realise that he dosen't the the word 'ranger' in his name, but come on! You put Phantom, Kat and Nova rangers up there, who combined probably have 5 minutes of fight time, but not the dude died, came back, was all badass with a shotgun, died again, came back again (albeit, in the form of some other dude who also died), freed the slaves, and blew up his zord/powers to keep a dimensional portal open and make sure said former slaves and the colony got home safe? That's messed up man.

Yeah, I had some hard choices to make about what to consider and not consider a Ranger, and, as you've noted, sometimes it just came down to who had the word "Ranger" in their name (though Phantom Ranger had a lot more than five minutes of fight time all by his lonesome. He was in like half of the Turbo eps and gave the Rangers new Zords, as well as piloting the carrier Zord that season. Of course, the argument could be made that Phantom Ranger isn't really a Ranger, since it was the Turbo Rangers that gave him that name and not how he referred to himself, but since he had no other identity, he was the Phantom Ranger and I put him in). Kat and Nova mostly showed up because I just loved how many damn Rangers there were that season (if Deka Gold had made even a cameo in SPD, she'd have been in there, too).
In the end, I determined that Magna Defender, while awesome, was only slightly more Ranger-esque than, say, Ninjor, who is decidedly not a Ranger. I say he was slightly more Ranger-esque only because he did give his powers to Mike, who became the new Magna Defender and did morph between the two forms, but I just couldn't call him a Ranger for this.

I wanted, for the most part, to keep all the teams together. As it was said on several Power Ranger VHS packages, "The Power of Teamwork Overcomes All!"
White Ranger Tommy, as I've explained, was a bit of an exception, since he's 1) the same guy with two Ranger identities on the same team and 2) taken from a different sentai source than his teammates (taken from DaiRanger while the rest of the guys were still using ZyuRanger suits), so in a sense he's already set apart from the rest of the bunch. It just also happened to work out that he ended up being the most legendary Ranger, so having him out front made sense.

Well, this piece isn't called "15 Years of Power Rangers on T.V. in England," it's just plain "15 Years of Power Rangers." Power Rangers, as a television show and international phenomenon, first appeared in 1993.

And, thank you. I'm always saying that, hello, 2007 was not the 15th anniversary. 2008 is. So let's all have a great big effing party this year because it's the true anniversary.

Tommy's up front for a few reasons:
1) As Cole said, "He really is the greatest Ranger."
2) Tommy may not have been the first leader, but he led for longer than anyone.
3) The White ranger was taken from DaiRanger, and as such had a kind of "odd man out" feeling from the original MMPR guys, who were all ZyuRanger derived. I was trying to keep all the teams basically grouped together. If I'd put him back there with the rest of the MMPR team, there'd be two Tommys in the line-up.
4) I wanted to have one larger, central figure out front to anchor the image. For the aforementioned reasons, I chose Tommy's White Ranger form (his Green Ranger form's probably the coolest, but he wasn't the leader as Green Ranger and, like I said, it made sense to have the ZyuRanger-derived MMPR Rangers all in one grouping and have the sole DaiRanger-derived Ranger out in front).

Well, if it hadn't have been Tommy, it probably would have been Tommy, or Tommy, or Tommy, or maybe even Tommy. I guess Adam would have gotten a nod after that for reappearing in "Once a Ranger," but I never really gave any thought to it being anyone besides White Ranger Tommy.
