Description
Done in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise, featuring all 5 of Tommy's Ranger forms. This might be the last time I draw Power Rangers for a while. They are a pain in the ass. Everything's hard lines, geometric shapes, and symmetry. I'm much more about organic, flowing art, so drawing those sorts of things doesn't come as naturally for me.Drawn in photoshop, printed in non-photo blue on bristol board, inked with Prismacolor .05 pigment liner, colored in photoshop.

All the other original Rangers were written out one by one, and Tommy was the last to go. It's a shame his other Zords weren't as awesome as the Dragonzord.

I didn't forget anything, no. In the show, the White Ranger had the same costume when he had the falcon powers. Unlike the other Rangers, he didn't even change his belt, because he didn't have a morpher for a belt buckle like the others did. The film was set in a different universe, so technically I left out two alternate universe versions of the White Ranger suit (movie with Tiger chest and movie with Falcon chest), though I did so consciously, since they were outside of continuity, redundant to the standard White Ranger, and of a differing aesthetic than the rest of the Ranger forms.

White Ranger is what he's best known for as a leader (Saban/Bandai have even situated the white Ranger as the leader of all the Reds in the 20th Anniversary advertising), Black has the most experience, and Green's just plain the coolest (even JDF thinks so). Hard to say who'd be the leader, but it's likely the Reds would be the last choices.

For my money, Green/Dragon Ranger has perhaps the coolest costume in the history of Power Rangers/Sentai. The helmet and suit are awesome, and the shield and gold banding are a fantastic way to complete the look. It's not too simple, and not nearly as cluttered and gaudy as some of the more recent 6th Ranger suits. White is a great suit, no doubt, but I've always liked the looks of the Green Ranger suit better.
The exception to that being the Disney-era Green Ranger suit, with the silver stripes on the helmet. They're out of place and really ruin the look of that costume.

Yeah, Green Ranger did have a cool costume, but I've always liked the White Ranger more, probbably because the firts PR episode I ever saw was the White Ranger's debut. But I still like the Green Ranger a lot too.

I'll never say a bad word against Doggie (other than he was a fool for not hooking up with Dr. Manx, who was pretty much throwing herself at him throughout half the series), but he's no Tommy. Still, I wouldn't mind a scene where Shadow Ranger and Green Ranger stand back to back and take on two hundred goons or so (since Doggie handled 100 by himself).

Yeah, poor Dr. Manx. But hey, Doggie was already married. And, his wife was still alive at the end of the series.
