30 Character Challenge06 - Pyramid Head: Silent Hill 2

I specify 2 because his best and original incarnation is in 2 and no, they're not all the same guy.
I have been asked before why I love Pyramid Head so much; I'm sure many of my fellow fans have run into this conflict too. The fact of the matter is that PyramidHead is not a guy, he's an idea. He's a monster created by the dark forces of Silent Hill as judge, jury, and executioner of the damned. He was created specifically to judge subconsciously-guilty James Sunderland, but before that he wants to make sure James knows what he's done first. He embodies James' frustrated libido, demonstrates the crime on poor Maria a couple times and forces James past road blocks and through mazes until he comes to terms with what he's actually come to Silent Hill for.
He's a real complicated monster full of symbolism and depth. There's nothing like a game where the villain is actually you in an abstract form. Plus what a great silhouette huh? He's not only instantly recognizable, but obviously strong and tormented. I'm sure that helmet is heavy and uncomfortable, and the great knife is not easy to heft either.
I should probably stop gushing about forethought and character design now.

You do draw anatomy so very well. What I like most about this whole thing, and perhaps about the whole series, though, is the way you analyze why you like the characters. Something like "The fact of the matter is that PyramidHead is not a guy, he's an idea." not only attempts to justify a fondness for a character a lot of people would see as gross or shallowly frightening, but succeeds in that attempt, and is exactly how I feel about my personal favourite baddie.

SH2 is such a mind game. It's honestly a psychological thriller, which is such a nice change of pace from the shock scare games they make in the US most the time.

Ohh, fun. I just looked it up it looks really good. What with the guy's head very suddenly plopping off and the random scream of 'this can't be happening'.
My brother thinks that Dead-Space has some good psychological elements to it. I just like the zelda-style boss battle at the end.

I have to admit Symbolicaly, SH2 PH was awesome hands down, but I can't deny I find the newer designs much more frightening and visualy compelling.

And I wont deny that I enjoy drawing PH as a man in a dress with a huge ripped torso... but I thought I'd be authentic to the character for the challenge here ^^

I do like your style with the character...although he's more of an enemy, I guess... I always have a horrible time getting his triangle head to look proportionate on his body, so it's always cool to see someone pull it off.

Its extremely huge, especially SH2. In the movie they made it smaller (and pointier) but in SH2 its nearly the size of the rest of him.

He never wears pants... the costume for the Silent Hill movie was actually assless - and the actor spent the whole role pretty breezy from behind.
