^^ I usually ignore the movies and pretend they don't exist... I loved the ending they gave the series at the end of 7... adding movies to that just seemed wrong, plus they ruined poor Data. As far as I'm concerned, the movies are official fanfiction.

I hated that they killed Data in Nemesis. D= I love the movies, but in anime and other series, I have a tendency to ignore pairings unless the characters are married to begin with. I dunno if you've ever seen Star Trek Enterprise, but I HATED the Trip/T '

TNG was a brilliant show... the actors had great chemistry. I really believed the characters loved each other and it made even the strangest plots work because the characters were real. And I think they broke that when they gave Data a personality chip because his innocense and sense of discovery was gone. I was actually making headway without it... I wish they'd let him develop his emotions in his own time, it would make each new experience that much more meaningful for him. I love Data if you can't tell.

I was actually thinking... Dr Soong did give Data dreams... so Sonny and Data both were given dreams by their fathers! Of course Data's tended to be fairly random...

Yeah... random. That's a pretty large understatement. I actually thought that was one of the wierder (see: more unlikeable) aspects of TNG, the focus on Data becoming more human through dreams.
I mean, Data's a grat character, probably one of my favorites from TNG, but c'mon. He's an android, incapable of emotion (other than curiosity, which is a curiosity in and of itself), and these 'dreams' of his are supposed to bring him closer to the human race? And then I guess the writers must have realized what an awful mess they'd be getting into if they completed that episode that way, so they explained the whole thing away as just one more wacky subroutine Soong programed into him. Oh, that silly, eccentric scientist.
