commission forFelina asked for a post Fall of Reach pic of John remembering his fallen friends Fhajad, Sam, Kelly, and Linda at a memorial to those killed in the glassing of Reach. They appear as he remembers them from training, their memories always with him as he places a flag at their monument.
For further clarification: this was a commission and the above paragraph is what Felina wanted. The children are not ghosts, they are memories of his friends from when they were all in training - when they were "happy". I hope that better explains.

This has also become a tribute to all veterans, since I posted it in time for veterans day. So here's to all those who have given their lives to our safety at war and at home. To those of you serving now, we all pray for your safety and success, and thank you for your sacrifice on our behalf. To every soldier who has ever carried our flag into battle, the US thanks you and loves you for all you have done for us.

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. Thanks no one for comments pointing out who is and is not alive without reading the description where I clarify I know who is alive and dead, I read the books and was paid to draw this picture. Thanks to constant frustration you innocent souls probably think me petty for being so angry about I've turned comments off. No one dare note me about how undead everyone is.

This is good, but there are some canon issues here. Fhajad never became an active Spartan. His body become to shaky for that. And John met up with Fred, Will, Linda, Kelly, and several other Spartans on Reach in Halo: First Strike. You've got Sam right though This a pretty awesome pic despite all this though.

I'm not sure if I commented on this piece yet but it deserves another one even if I did...
I thought it was a very emotional piece of art that was only enhanced by the song I was listening to at the time of viewing this, which happened to be 'The Unsung War' from Ace Combat 5, though if I were to listen to some sad haloesque song it would work even more but The Unsung War just seems like it's talking about the fallen, unsung heroes.

Oh...my....Spartans. It's beautiful. I usually don't like it when people draw John without armor, but this is just so beautiful I don't care. I love how much thought you put into their numbers and apparel. Good job.

Great work there, i have read the reach book and i thought it seemed familiar. and it actually made me feel slightly sad so you must be great because that aint an easy task

If i remember correctly fhajad is in a wheelchair and has shell shock or something, sam stays with the bomb on the covenant ship as his suit is compromised, (linda or kelly cant remember which) gets shot with plasma rifles (one in the head) and john puts her in a freeze tank thing, and the other girl was on reach as it was being glassed. i think, lol anyway mint work there i love the book of reach i think im going to read it again now

John is from the present. The memories are from the past. this was a commissioned piece, I drew what the buyer asked. I'm just trying to justify her choice and help you understand. They're supposed to be the memories of when they were all happy together (well happy relatively, when they were all together in training) before people suffered loss and/or died or went missing. They're not really ghosts, the title was her request as well, its more like the ghosts of the past watching over him.
