I honestly want to know what this character's daily life is like, the decisions being made, what's going across his mind. Is he unhappy or does he enjoy his "work". Is the thought, "well if it weren't for me, there'd be more sinners!"
Not sure why I'm thinking so deeply about this, but maybe it's the posture and look that he's walking quickly, purposefully hitting the prison bars with the axe to say, "Alright, it's time to take care of this"

Boy, now this guy looks like a real badass. The angle makes him look gigantic. But it's the little details that catch my eye. His firm, single-minded posture, yet it still looks like he's clanging his axe against the bars on purpose; like he knows those prisoners are back there cowering, and he wants them to know.
I also like the addition of the book. Makes me think that's a kind of list, which also makes me think he's more than just an executioner. Like he's also the warden and the judge. It's like he owns the prison. That and the keys give him a particular of air of authority that makes him scarier than just the superficial appearance of that armor.

I can hear the clanking of his boots, the rattling of the chains, even the whimpering of the prisoners, cowering in their cell...
I can feel the cold, damp stone floor on my feet and the overwhelming sense of dread...

I played "Dungeon Keeper" a while back, and there, you could capture the hero knight and torture him untill he died or swore loyalty to you.
This is how i imagine the heroic night after he turned bad, nom striving through the dungeon protecting his MasterΒ΄s dungeon heart.
I so want to see that game as a remake with this guy as the look for a converted knight!!! In the books he writed the names of the heroes that fell under his axe!
