Do you think films like The Fifth Element and Avatar were influenced by this kickass comic magazine and 1981's movie?
When i saw Avatar 8 times in a theater, i thought "WOW! this is like Heavy Metal the magazine brought to life". James Cameron is a fan of both sources and uses his love and respect for both when he did "Avatar", i mean it has similar themes of Sci-fi fantasy adventure that appeals to teens and guys alike even the ones who still have the teenboy within them. Avatar had it all like HM movie and magazine with weird surreal landscapes, exotic alien planets, alien chicks, alien boobs, a sex scene, being a warrior in a new body while escaping from reality, feats of strength etc. a winning combination.
Plus Neytiri the Avatar gal is like a covergirl from the magazine.

Beautiful character, amazing imagination. XD Hopefully this isn't too forward, but I'm working on a piece for Heavy Metal myself. I was wondering if you had any advice for the submission process, or if you knew of a better way then going through the traditional mail in means. In short, looking for someone to impress to hopefully put in a few good words for me. Looking forward to talking to you.
