Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a thing now for the Nintendo Switch, and of all the announcements they made during the Direct it looked like they were bringing in Hudson/Konami's own Bomberman!! ... as an Assist Trophy. Felt a tad bummed at first he wouldn't be playable but, thinking it over I thought it wasn't that bad and now I feel happier knowing he's helping out the entire friggin cast of Smash Bros from 64, to Brawl and even now!
... of course a lot of other people I've seen weren't as savvy on the news, some even called this out as an insult that he was anything short of being playable. Not that I don't sympathize with them but regardless I wanted to make a comic to shed a more positive light on the situation. So hey, hope y'all will feel happier about all this after reading it and if not ... well I tried. |D;
In any case, here's to Smash Ultimate!!

lotta people are disappointed Bomberman's only an assist trophy (same honestly), but it would be difficult to make a kit out of bomb, bomb, pick up bomp, throw bomb, big bomb, kick bomb.Β Him placing bombs around the screen to explode in + like patterns is probably one of the best ways they could've implemented him in this game

It's a very bittersweet feeling. On one hand he was like my #1 most wanted newcomer so it sucks he won't be playable, on the other, it's great to finally see him in Smash to some capacity. It's better than just being a regular trophy like what happened to Rayman in Smash 4.
Either way, this helped with making me feel better about it. ;w;

Somehow being a assist trophy is selfish, bomberman was supposed to be playable with mario, sonic and kirby in my dream team.
Now it's completely disappointed three times since brawl, 3ds/wii u and now ultimate. Wait a sec, this game called itself a ultimate?
Probably not, not without bomberman, krystal, rayman and issac.
He is a great guy, but he has no right to bring assist trophy, that makes it worst for smash bros fans.

Frankly I think fans can be far more selfish than the developers will ever be. Not to say they're wrong with wanting one character or another to make it in, but I've always found it a tad ridiculous how much of a big deal we make over a character not making it in (or sometimes if a character does make it in, like Corrin or Bayonetta). I mean so what? We'll all get the game when it comes out regardless of the results, and even so it could help to maybe broaden your horizons and try out characters you previously never thought about until now. xD;
As for Bomberman, sure it does kinda suck he's not playable but I think it's good enough that he was put in the game to assist the main cause. Definitely beats him just not being there at all, let alone teased during a possible character reveal only to just be a trophy in the end like say, Rayman.

Good point. However, bomberman is the best choice because think of link's bomb, bomb kirby's aim and megaman's throwing bomb.

Least it's silly yet charming to see this after getting both endings on Bomberman 64: TSA. Was a bit amazed and awestruck to see that the silly robot was able to join the forte, even if he is limited to being a simple assist.

Well can only think he's a robot given that if one was to play some of the older games, the game over/deaths tends to picture his visor blacking out like a computer. Same time just not too sure as the first Bomberman game, or at least the one on the NES, has it where the plot is you try to go up a series of labyrinths just for a chance to be normal... and then games like the new Super Bomberman R has him and his family pretty much robots.

Make the most of it Bomberman! It wouldn't be the first time someone got a promotion from the assist stage to playable. Sometimes you just need to get your foot in the door before you can climb up! If he proves really popular then he may get released as DLC or even changed before release!

And let's not forget - He was the FIRST to cross-over in a Nintendo game years before Smash Bros. even began, so it'd be great to see him settle a score with Wario! X)

I know people were kinda upset with no playable Bomberman, but I thought the Assist Trophy placing was a great 2nd place!
He now helps in fights for whoever summons him, unlike Rayman, who was just a trophy.
This might be too early to even say, but I get the feeling this might help Bomberman get a playable place in a later Smash Bros. game for another system!

nothing terribly out there, just Rayman, Spring Man/Ninjara(E) and the entire Belmont Clan.
Crash would be nice too but I just want to stick to what's the most likely. xD

All of my characters on my wish list have absolutely no chance. I want Porky from Earthbound/Mother 3, Gummi From Freakyforms, Karate Joe from Rhythm Heaven, Crash(Although he has a better chance), and Dixie or King K. . Again, I doubt Iβll get any of these, but itβd be great for a Earthbound character that isnβt a clone of ness, a very odd and weird choice of a character, a Rhythm Heaven character, one Marioβs rivals, and a DK character to get in.
