Description
I have been on an SM kick lately and I am really wondering why they just haven't made a new season. They made the Live Action sailormoon show and it was totally awesome. I don't care how bad the CGI was, it was still fantastic.Seriously. Make a new series!! It would be a giant CASH COW. Who cares if Naoko stopped after Stars? Her artwork was getting reaaally lazy. The anime cut out so many characters(although most were utterly USELESS) and senshi that it might as well have been an entirely different series altogether.
So I thought that if there was a series, it should star Chibiusa as the new Sailormoon, dropping the "chibi" in her name.
Since peace was restored after the galaxia battle, there has been no need for senshi to appear in Crystal Tokyo...
UNTIL...
DUN DUN DUUUUUUN. EVIL APPEARS. That's how it always goes. So chibiusa takes on being Sailormoon.
But then again, it wouldn't make sense because Sailor Cosmos is the ultimate form of Sailormoon and "the strongest senshi in the entire galaxy", so why would there be a need for Usagi to switch?
Plus there would be way too many senshi in the series considering the purpose of the inners and outers is to protect sailormoon.
Then you have the Amazoness senshi, which appeared in Sailormoon SuperS and revealed themselves as Chibimoon's future protectors, so they are basically what Mercury, Mars, Venus and Jupiter are to Sailormoon but for Chibiusa.
But if chibimoon needs protecting in the future, then that means that there would be a future new enemy for them to have to appear. But since Chibiusa is a teenager, then that means that she would change her name to Sailormoon and there already is a sailormoon: Neo Queen Serenity AKA: Sailor Cosmos?
I don't know. Sometimes I think Naoko Takeuchi made shit up as she went, because it's about as inconsitent as the Star Wars trilogy. Really. I have seriously laid in my room in the dark and thought about it. It's impossible. There will never be another series.
Saturn and Chibimoon are in a tie for because my second favorite senshi. My first being Venus.

Have you seen Naoko's new drawing of Serenity on Sailormoon Channel? Her art has gotten so much cuter! I really wish she'd do a new series about Chibimoon!' It would be so much fun!! ^o^
Cosmos is a complex character. I could spam you with fan theories if you want
I love your sketch!

Naoko's illustration colored art is amazing. It's her manga art that I don't like.
I love Cosmos. She is so beautiful. Ahaha go ahead and spam me with those theories!

She always did terrible feet though, haha. Poor Naoko, I bet she was rushed so often
So here's my giant manga Cosmos fan theory (read this all as speculative and not as fact, and sorry it's so long ):
Usagi in the past life was the princess, not a Sailor Senshi. She was heir to the Ginzuishou but the Ginzuishou isn't from this solar system and it is not a Sailor Crystal/true starseed. It's an external force.
When the princess is reborn as Usagi, she is given the ability to transform into Sailormoon by Luna. But this was a ploy to keep the Princess safe/subdued and hide the Ginzuishou. This failed because the Princess' power was stronger than Sailormoon's and Usagi awakened as the Princess. At this point, the Ginzuishou appeared from her crystallized tear. From this point on, the Ginzuishou began to merge with Usagi's starseed as she continued to use it to be Sailormoon.
When Usagi "retires" and becomes Neo Queen Serenity, she gives up her ability to become Sailormoon. The Ginzuishou rests in the Crystal Palace and we all know a certain little kid gets hold of it... hehehee. The Ginzuishou is passed on to Chibiusa and evolves into the Pink Moon Crystal. At this point, Usagi is back to being basically a regular human (maybe with a slightly elevated power level, like the cats or Phobos and Deimos).
Eventually, something happens in the far future and Chibimoon (the new Sailormoon) and all her guardians are killed. All the canon sailor senshi are killed. Endymion is killed. Probably everyone on Earth is killed. Maybe Earth is destroyed. There is no one left but Usagi. At this point her original starseed (the one she had before inheriting the Ginzuishou) awakens to it's full potential (the Cosmos Crystal) allowing her to become the ultimate Sailor Senshi, Sailor Cosmos.
But suddenly she becomes uncertain. She starts to think, "Even if I can defeat this evil, what is there to live for? Everyone and everything is gone. Even if I can win, the battle will just start over like it always has." At that point, she decides that she must travel back in time to her past self. She decides to go back to when she was Eternal Sailormoon and convince herself to end everything by destroying the Galaxy Cauldron with Chaos when she had the chance.
Eternal Sailormoon doesn't buy it and tells her future self that it's crap. She says that everything is born again from the stars and evil and good are meant to always exist, together. And even if she DID destroy the Cauldron another one would form and the battle would go on. After that little talk, Cosmos reveals herself and then tells the Asteroid Senshi that she was a coward. But she's renewed by hope and says she won't run anymore. And then she goes back to her horrible future.
And hopefully kicks some Sailor Chaos ass.
Alternate theory: same basic story but instead of just the future of Sailormoon, Cosmos could actually be another reincarnation of Usagi (Princess is to Usagi as Usagi is to Cosmos). But that would be like Usagi going back to visit herself as the Princess and I don't buy that as much as just going to visit her past self (in the same way she's visited her future self).
tl;dr Usagi's true starseed is the Cosmos Crystal and she had it before she got the Ginzuishou.
I'm actually REALLY looking forward to Miss Dream's translation of the last few pages of the manga (even though they won't get there for a while). I think it will be refreshing to read it without having to cringe at "Cordon" every other page

I like that interpretation.
BTW, what is a Cordon? Like a Cordon Blue?
I always wondered if that was the real translation or an error or what. lol Because some people translate it to cauldron.

I honestly have no idea but it appears to be a real word: [link] I think it was a mistranslation. I bet someone fluent in Japanese and English could figure out what happened. Clearly MIXX/TokyoPop weren't working with the most thorough people xD
Cauldron is the accurate translation, pretty sure.

I really love how you drew both characters - especially since I'm a die hard Saturn fan.
But you're right, if they did a sixth season now or in 2012 (that's the 20th anniversary) it would be a major cash cow. I know a lot of fans hope for a sixth season, which are probably why there are a lot of fan-created (failed) series and a ton of fanfiction dating after "Stars". Hell, I'm even working on one.
Only time will tell but you are probably right as there will not be another season unless some miracle happen and the storyline changed...maybe an AU universe or an OVA.

Exactly.
Plus Naoko might as well continue Sailor Moon. Everything else she's done has not been popular/failed or she just gave up on it mid-series without explanation ::COUGHlovewitchCOUGH::

lol - I really hated that Love Witch had stopped. I was really enjoying it. It really does seem though any new series that is of her creation recently is doom to fail

A good cover-up to the issue regarding Cosmos is to make her visit Fighter and the other starlights in their part of the galaxy. She isn't home/is on vacation so someone needs to clean up the evil.
Or she just retired. Or said "Screw it, I quit."

hence the trouble i have when I try to keep fanfics canonish. i suggest you don't read bleach, there are some inconsistencies there that have kept me up longer than the ones from sailor moon.

Ahaha. I never really got into Bleach. But I love characters and designs. Arghhh but the fillers. I am afraid to start Bleach because of the fillers.

I read the manga instead of watching it. No fillers but it has one major timeline inconsistency that bugs me and it's starting to turn into the manga that never ends.

Yeah, that is another reason why I haven't read it. I gave up Naruto Shippuden for that reason. It just doesn't end!!!

haha i love how you point out the plot holes. there are soo many. even the whole "who could the moon princess be" arc is...kinda dumb. I was a kid, yelling "SAILOR MOOOON! You punish in the name of the moon, and you have her hair. You ARE the princess.
and yet, i still love the series.

I know. Seriously. Have you ever seen the live action sailormoon show? Usagi and everyone look completely different in their civilian forms and Princess Serenity actually has black flat hair. I was thinking to myself "Well done, writers. "

SATURN RULZ. not that i really have as much connection to the series as you do.
one of the reasons is i remember when i was learning about it in 8th and 9th grade and i saw how fucking crazy and sideways it gets with all the tangential characters and... paradoxes like you just mentioned, i kind of decided it'd be a lot of work to be a die hard fan of it/follow everything. XD
i love Chibiusa's face in this. the combination of confused/cute and over-the-shoulder sold me on it.
COLORRRRRRrr.

You make a valid point... I think with most of those manga artists whose work reach a certain level of popularity they definitely start pulling stuff out of their butts... but of course, fans just keep eating it up...
( coughcough Kishimoto Masashi coughcough)
Ah well, you did a really wonderful job with the lineart. Saturn's one of my faves, too! Just behind Jupiter.
