Description Episode 8:
The USS Avenger launches a trio of shuttlecraft to assist in scanning the magnetic field emanating from what has been dubbed the "Molten Planet". Initial scans revealed that the planet's core consists of more liquid metal, surrounded by metallic plasma. However, many sensor sweeps are reflected by the planet's atmosphere, resulting in the need to send shuttles closer to the surface for more detailed scans.

It's late and I don't feel like changing the description yet. I might do it later. And don't even try and figure out how that planet works. It's just as bad as the liquid planet on Voyager. In reality, the planet would have boiled away into space.

What is the shadow on the bottom of the nacelle coming from?

Those aren't shadows, those are shield arrays. 25th century tech, so I took my own liberties with it.

actually, I don't think it's as bad as you say. Gas giants are usually mostly liquid with some solid layers at the core...and convection (caused by gravity, internal heat, or just plain out of nowhere) can keep something liquid despite being much cooler than it should be....that's why the uppermost layer of the mantle is a plasticy flowy solid (new words!) rather than the stiff rigid solid of the Mantle Proper*.

*with the exception that the mantle proper may be solid due to overwhelming pressure.

lol yeah, I'm aware of all that, but I'm referring to the fact that it's got a molten surface at such a low temperature
