I've recently watched a few episodes of it- got to the part when I learned that back then TV writers didn't know to make semi-important characters have a nice place in the hearts of the viewers before killing them off, I would have loved if they explored Boxy's mother a bit more, I mean it was sad, but compared to the more recent BSG or better yet Defiance- it was weak. Now it's if you are gonna kill off a character they A are unimportant - redshirts- B the audience must have reason to want them dead- or C are side characters that have a main role and the audience has plausible reason to think they are safe, RIP the McCawley family- the firm reminder for Season 3 that on the terraformed planet that used to be Earth on which Defiance is built upon- only 3 characters are safe.

I didn't seen much of old BSG, only new one. But I recognize the cylon phrase.
There are new show now did you seen Dark Matter , Killjoys or Humans ? For now they aren't so bad.

I didn't say that the killing of characters was a bad thing- they do it really well in Defiance- no I haven't seen those shows yet- but give them time- they will kill off many, that is if they have multiple seasons of course.
