The way you see this woman really stands out in the way you paint her. You feel that she is a beautiful Indian woman and this painting truly shows her beauty by the way you made her hair flow around her and the smile on her face.
This piece is original because you didn't just paint this woman, you painted what you saw in her and did so excellently.
Your technique is stunning. The title "Spring Song" matches perfectly in my opinion. Her hair flowing around her suggests a breeze or wind. The array of tones in her hair and the shadows on her face suggest a bright sunlight. These two together give a feel of seeing this bright woman on a warm spring day. Even the color of her shirt gives a feel of spring.
All in all, the painting really reflects your vision of this woman and viewers can tell how much effort you put into this.
Amazing job, keep up the good work :]

What some might dismiss as messy strands of hair have body, luster, curvature in their darkness. Darkness is the true mirror of light. The titled head with its bright features might seem an afterthought; face is central to the whole yet its precise, simple definition seems too facile. It would be a mistake to discredit the artist. A talent that can make the most out of the least is literally most creative. But we should focus on the beauty of the subject. There is literally nothing elaborate about her. Her beauty emerges from the simple curves of the face shaping lips, nose and eyes that are above all engaged.

The critique is on my facebook page, stumbleupon, reddit & tumblr. It links directly back to the painting.
I'll let you know how things go. Hopefully it'll go viral, but I've been doing this for years and that has happened exactly once.

I found this piece to be extremely eye catching. Technically I see no flaws. I like the use of the soft pastels in that they so strongly contrast the hair and skin tones. The hair, that beautiful mix of colors, I thought is done very well when you consider the number of individual strands in wild disarray. I like how the slope of her shoulder draws your eyes into her face and that mane of hair. Finally I appreciated the detailing in her right shoulder, how the suggestion of wrinkles or folds in the top leads to a running drip r.
What really attracted my eye was the dynamics in the picture. A beautiful woman turning her head to the right, smiling in anticipation of something, with her hair flying in the wind.. For the viewer it is an image that brings up memories and a wish that it was them the welcoming smile was for.

I am glad you like it. But don't get discouraged from watercolors, they are really amazing medium. Starts might be confusing but if you keep practicing, it's tamable. This was my very first watercolor portrait and it was 4 months ago [link] It is so frustrating at times but there are days when it just goes right

That is sad. As I recall I said nice things about the piece. We need a superhero to take out the internet dragon that eats messages.

this is truly awesome! She looks like a free spirit what with the way you did her hair blowing in a breeze we can not see or hear. Such lovely face.Love how you have left her incomplete.eaves us to use out imagination to complete the rest of it. i love how well defined the face is. Watercolor is truly a hard skill to master without completely messing up what you are painting because whatever color you are working with has a tendency to bleed into the ones next to it. You show a mastery of it here. Very awesome.
Have most excellent day!
