UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
TASK
Draw your team in the beautiful lights of the sky, perhaps thinking about their journey,
what they experienced, what their expectations were from themselves and their horses.
Did they meet someone inspiring along the way? Forged new friendships? Tested their limits?
Give a little insight what's going on inside your character's heads during the last phase of the event.
Oh yes, going back and doing the assignments after the obligatory tasks are finished, like a boss. and because I procrastinate like a dummy and scrambled last minute.
Jojo and dearest Zyrah enjoying the gorgeous Northern lights after completing their long journey together. C:
Admittedly Josef had some doubts wondering if he could even complete the trails this year on his own, as he was pretty reliant on his previous year's mentor. But he was quite determined to see it through to the end with that stubborn tenacity of his, and found it in himself to push through. Frankly he considers himself rather fortunate in not having too many obstacles this time around, for this year's task he found himself going a bit slower than his usual pace (much to his eager mount disappointment), but he wanted to get there safely at the very least, his rank in the race not mattering to him this time around.
Zyrah proved her reliance and sturdiness to him once more, making his heart swell with pride and joy, with something like a proud father seeing his child talk or walk for the first time. Surely he was still very proud and thankfully for his rather green mounts in getting him around safely through the first two phases, but the third phase brought up unexpected snow flurries, which even caused his rock hard facade to crumble a bit. With the vast amounts of wind and snow the blizzard kicked up, the all to real risk of snow immersion crossed his mind multiple times, especially after hearing stories from K.D. in which lost campers were commonly found in tree wells, because of that, he avoided trees like the plague due to paranoia, even if they provided temporary windbreaks. He had to keep moving, it was certainly no place to stop, and even Zyrah's strong composure faltered, slightly sensing his uneasiness as she became more restless. It was easy to say this was one of the most challenging components of the trail this year, but he was determined to not leave him and his mount icicles in the snow tundra and through their stubborness they fought through and made it out in one relative piece.
Making it out alive, already felt like a 100 pounds was lifted from his shoulders, as he praised his girl for making it through the brunt of it. And even Zyrah seemed quite humbled by it all, thankfully to have her brave and foolish rider with her, as she showed her appreciation clusmily butted her head into him. The two of them were quite the pair together, the complete opposites but nature but truly the same in constitution and heart. Quite inseparable Josef would say, even with the numerous horses he encountered and took under his wing, it was clear Zyrah would always remain close to heart, after all they have been through so much together in the past, this 'little' snowstorm nothing but a dent in the long road of their rocky past. But it was a sturdy road, one that would not be broken for many years, despite it's depilated appearance, a road of trust that certainly would not be caving anytime soon.
This year's trail was unusual quiet in comparison to last year's which was bustling with activity, although Josef was able to see multiple familiar faces, along with some new ones, it was still a bit of solitary journey. Not that there was anything wrong with that, as sometimes a little bit of quiet was always needed to truly concentrate and relax. Although after a while it admittedly drove the blonde a little stir crazy as he itched for more interaction, next year for sure he would make sure to forge some new relationships, seeing as he felt more confident having a solo journey of his own under his belt. And perhaps even drag someone from w.Y.K.R to accompany him, as there were quite some interest, minus one said person, but the real question was, who would it be? Would it be just one? or perhaps two?

Some intense yet beautiful smudging! What a lovely scene!
I like how they took a moment to appreciate the Aurora... You did a great job on this one - the purples in the sky, the distant mountains, and the horse and rider all look so cohesive!
