Fantastically done! I grew up watching this with my dad, as well as every incarnation of Star Trek... until the recent ones. At its best, Star Trek has taken opportunities to examine humanity and ethics, and some of the more recent stuff to me feels as though they have lost their way, instead telling you what you more sternly what you should think instead of presenting the argument for you to think about.
I think that's the reason the original show, with its bright colors, dated late 1960's aesthetic and highly questionable special effects still is worth watching. There is a ton of depth to it that makes it more than the sum of its parts... at least, in most episodes. Some of them are just ridiculous, but that can be said of most shows.
The Enterprise refit and "A" were my favorite aesthetic designs of the ship, but I have come to appreciate this one more and always love seeing it. Thanks for hitting me in the face with nostalgia first thing in the morning.

If you really want to be technical, Captain Sean Archer predates Kirk by quite a while, itβs just that his Enterprise was flown in a time before the United Federation of Planets was founded.
Still, itβs a shame to think most of the original series crew is gone.

But if you really want to be... really technical... his name was Jonathan Archer.
