Description In 1992, Todd McFarlane and other like minded artist were pissed off at the state of DC and Marvel due to lack of creative control and credit, they decided to created Image Comics, and easily the face of Image was Todd McFarlane's Spawn. In celebration of his release in Mortal Kombat 11, Spawn makes his debut in the DC Unlimited. The role he plays is still unknown.

In 1997, HBO released Spawn's animated series, which is considered DC Unlimited canon. At this point, Spawn's story takes place after the events of season 3,  (where much like Teen Titans did end on a big ass cliffhanger), Spawn seeks to learn from Cogliostro, in helping regain his humanity, but Spawn's primal instincts prevent him from getting to that place. The suit he dawns is his own prison. At this point, he's running low on Necroplasm, and by the rules of Spawn lore, the more he loses, it's back to hell. Fighting to survive, and with the Superman Theory looming over everyone's head, the world has become a bit more dangerous for Al Simmons.
