Ovomorph, known colloquially as the Egg, is an egg-like capsule containing a Facehugger, generally considered to be the first stage in the life cycle of the Alien species. They are produced and laid by a Queen. Egg senses or otherwise detect when a potential host creature approaches, at which point four "petals" at the top of the Egg open up and the Facehugger within launches itself at the nearby victim. Submerged Ovomorph works basically the same, but with some notable differences. Firstly, the shape is elongated, this is because of the crushing pressure at the bottom of the sea of Europa, making the eggs make a funnel-like shape in order to safeguard the symbiote inside. Submerged ovomorph doesn't use the traditional "petals" to open the top, because the pressure prevents that, sub egg instead uses four "petals" that descent or collapse the top open, so the Squid Facehugger can be released.

Squid Facehugger, or Squid Hugger, is a evolved Facehugger for underwater conditions. They possess eight tentacles addition to their eight fingers, using the tentacles for swimming and also for grabbing the victim. All weapons work on Squid Huggers, as long as you watch out for the acid blood, Eggs in other hand are almost indestructible.
