When it comes to the creation-evolution debate, many people on this site seem to be divided into two extremes, secular evolutionists and Christian creationists. Beyond dA, there are many people seeking a middle ground between the two positions. How many people actually believe that when Charles Darwin formulated his theory of evolution, he rubbed his hands together and said "I'm gonna disprove Christiainity"? The truth is, Darwin formulated much of his ideas before he abandoned Christianity. The man who first introduced Darwin's theory in the US, botanist Asa Gray, was a Christian who obviously saw no contradiction between Darwin's ideas and his own faith.Don't let the creationist rhetoric like RejectedDreams' "I Never Said, 'Let there be evolution: God" stamp fool you. There is nothing in evolution that threatens Christianity. Just read the book "The Language of God." The author, Francis Collins, shows us that evolution and Christian belief go hand in hand.
Now I'm gonna wait for RejectedDreams to come along and scold me for not being Christian enough.

I belive it was his daughters death that finaly made him turn his back to the church if I remember it right. I can't say I blame him considering his life.
God might have created evolution, it sounds reasonable for me if He did as it is so practical. I will never know for sure as I am just a human.
As for different religions most of us are well aware that it's basicaly the same with some local differences. If some other religion than mine works better for someone else who am I to deny him that? If it works for him and helps him that is good enough for me, I don't think people are stupid for thinking different than I do or saying something I don't understand. Don't underestimate people.
Though I admit that all the religious dogmas are often a problem.

I recently did a comic poking fun at this whole debate. An evolutionist attacked me and kept saying I thought "GODDIDIT" (began to sound like an evolutionist battle cry). Like that somehow meant I didn't believe in science. I embarrassed myself by getting into a silly argument, but your stamp might bring some clarity to the issue. Well done on trying to find some middle ground.

I've always considered this theory. I always thought that maybe God did create everything, but only created a bit of it and it evolved into all that we know today. Nice to know others share my ideals on things like this.

True. Personally, I'm an atheist but my parents are Mennonites who believe that god created the universe and evolution was part of that creation.
