Description This is a fanart of a funnier than real life webcomic [link] by .....

I would say that this is a very sweet comic that is sure to bring a smile, so after checking it out, I just had this thought of having the characters falling... not falling down, but more like how you see characters just falling in a song or maybe like an intro to a television series.

So I hope that likes it.

Wyliman's characters do NOT belong to me... I am just an insignificant insect that is just a fan....

Interesting question. The problem isn't that you're a bad colorist. Quite the contrary. The problem is that you have a unique line style, with a classic cartoon/comic base (that begs for bright colors like painted cells) with a lot of extra detail, either in scratchy impressionist lines or textures and extra designs laid over. That latter both subtly spoils the traditional glossy painted style and gives you an individuality I'd have for you to lose.

I'm looking at the artists I know best, and I think and suit your style most closely. You're going to need to start with a cartoon-style base, and then pay careful attention to shading without creating a lot of texturing. Texturing will clash with the extra elements you like to add.

I feel odd giving this advice. I am just a good enough artist to have an eye, but I can't color myself for beans. For *beans*. Maybe those who can't do teach.

I do not like to criticize, but I'll do it 'cause it's attached to a serious compliment. I think there's something about your coloring style that doesn't suit you. I wish I was good enough at coloring to tell you what it was. But I look at the last couple of pics and I'm unmoved, and then I look at this and your linework is *fabulous*.

Your lines are neat and clean, you can rumple cloth, you can elegantly suggest shadow, your facial features are varied and blend realism and classically cartoony elements smoothly - this is good stuff. Very, very good stuff. Somehow, coloring is actually holding you back.

omg...FINALLY! a serious critique! I appreciate what you are saying about my coloring. I have problems with my line work, I thought, but I use vector to line the art work, but I can't seem to have the heart to erase the sketch underneath. So I put in a soft pencil work. I wanted to make this seem like they are falling from creation. Like sketch ideas that fall from the sky.
My coloring style does seem off. I wish I could do them better. I try it, cause I have no idea how some artist do it so smoothly. So I plug away...hopefully I find a style that fits.
I will redirect my coloring style then, but could you give me a hint on which coloring artist you think I could learn more from?

NO WAY! Compared to like ...everyone else in DA, I suck. Be jealous of someone worthy...like the creator of Training Dragons, or the loli artist from snafu comics ... They rock the talent... I am but a mere peon of an artist
