Blender is a great program to learn to make characters, objects and such from scratch, and its free. I wish you luck.

Also yes.. did take alot of effort to get the pose and lighting JUSST Right.

lol well damn didn't know I KNEW (of) you and talked to you since about 2009. XD Some one just faved this and so I decided to look and I see and then noticed we had a little conversation about 3D. XD lol and bamn 3 years later I have you draw my kick ass mouse girl for me.

Most of that you have to make a texture from the UV map in something like Photoshop or so.
