Rue Morgue magazine asked me to to be a part of their 100th anniversary issue, where they commissioned 16 of their favorite horror artists to paint an original piece that exemplifies a personal nightmare.

This painting speaks of a recurring nightmare I have where my teeth crunch and crack and fall out. I did some research, and apparently I fear the loss of something "permanent" in my life. Hmmm.

Ewww I have that same nightmare too...except my teeth never crack they just kinda slide right out. My teeth always feel real loose the rest of the day after that one.

Awesome stuff! Love the green tones in the skin and the obvious and subtle veins. Im sure all that staring into your own open mouth didn't help with the nightmares though

Thank you Dave. I'm still trying to figure out when to use cool colors in the shadows, and when to use darker warm colors. Any suggestions on where to get info on this issue? (books..tips, etc?). You always seem to nail the technical stuff.

Cant say I'm any kind of expert and I dont know any books on the subject - I'm pretty much just self taught when it comes to colors. It all depends on the lighting, time of day, background or foreground, receeding or dominant and most importantly, what feels right.
I really love how you handle your color work though - feels right to me!!

You want to know something realy scarry, I've actually cracked or broken five of the large teeth at the back of my mouth at various times during seizures. Luckly my dntist has been able to fix them so far but luck and duct-tape only get you so far!
