Done for Magic: The Gathering set Dragons of Tarkir
Illustrating a spell effect. Pretty classic red spell, fire and chaos on the side of a mountain. The armor was especially difficult to render, as it is designed to be very spikey and bulky, and hard to show on lots of figures in motion. I decided to make them mostly dark, almost silhouettes, and facing away from the viewer, so they didn't draw attention away from the smaller figure in the background (which I drew further attention to with leading lines and creating a circle shape around him with the shockwave effect), and the spell effect itself, which was kind of the whole point of the card. Definitely one of the trickier magic commissions I've done.
