In the first of a series for my Pride Celebration 2023 series, I decided to start with a strong stance on recent attacks on the drag community. This year alone, many states in the US have banned drag performances based on both antiquated and fictitious notions of so-called "grooming." One such law was recently struck down under First Amendment protections in Tennessee, but that won't stop the deceit.

Drag is an artform. I've been to many drag shows both in and out of adult venues, and I can tell you that no such grooming exists. It's performance art. The real groomers are behind the pulpits.

Sapphire is a non-binary drag performer, and non-binary is a subset of transgender. I've chosen to put the trans and non-binary flags as Sapphire is making a statement that I am here to stay, drag or otherwise.

Many of my pieces this month will have a more political side, so I hope people don't get turned off by it, but these stances need to be made. I did to start the conversation, but be warned: if you come in with hatred, you will be unceremoniously blocked, even if you're a follower. I do not require your patronage.
