Description
Over the last few years I've had several people ask at shows if I had any Spiderman pinups, which, alas, I did not - not until this year when I was commissioned to do this piece and got permission from the original art owner to do a print run did I have any. So, here he is!The client wanted a shot of him swinging down low over the city streets, and I asked him if it would be OK to dive into the buildings and backgrounds a bit to knock it up a notch (knowing that people would someday love a print of this). He said 'sure' after a little arm-twisting and I went to town (punny, I know).
Lineweights are always key to a piece like this, as I reserved the thinnest lines for the buildings farthest off, gradually thickening the building lines as they approach the foreground, and then giving Spidey himself the thickest of holding lines.
I'm of the Williams/Garner/Weems inking school, so you'll see a lot of thick to thin work on the holding lines, bounces, bumps, line-dot-line stuff, trying to maintain texture-specific linework and patterns.
Anyway, enjoy!

Great work! The perspective is fantastic!
And speaking of "fantastic", nice little cameo in the background, there.
