Well, if Teridax managed to summon Kavaxas, he´d use him as henchman but use his mental powers to make sure Kavaxas doesn´t try anything stupid. If he did, Teridax would absorb him and his powers.
And as long as Teridax still had control over Kavaxas, Kavaxas couldn´t do anything against being absorbed by Teridax.
