Description
Wanted to do something special for #150 and judging by the fact that I started crying when I was coloring this I think I made a good choice for subject matter. In addition to redefining the character of Mr. Freeze for the next 15+ years, "Heart of Ice" is still one of the most emotionally effective half hours of superhero animation ever.Prismacolor markers, colored pencil, and Gouache on 2.5 x 3.5 Bristol ACEO
EDIT: A couple of days after I posted this card, Mr Freeze's voice actor Michael Ansara passed away. This piece was originally intended as a tribute for the episode and his performance in it, but I would like to rededicate it to the memory of the man himself. Some fans will remember him best as Klingon Captain Kang from the Star Trek franchise or as Killer Kane in the Glen Larson version of Buck Rogers, but whatever character you know him as, his performances will live forever just like the icy, tragic villain he helped breathe new life into.

Naw, I don't sell prints of fan art. Too much copyright stuff to worry about, but I may ended up auctioning off the original when I get a few more cards done. I'll let you know if I list it.

It must have been the one of the first to air, because I think it's actually the first one I saw. It's my favorite of the series with "Mad as a Hatter" and "Almost Got'Em" coming in close second and third.

Awesomeness I love it. I agree "Heart of Ice" was epic and turned Mr. Freeze from a gimicky villain into a tragic figure

The reason some people don't like him is because of the atrocity that came out a few years later known as Batman and Robin. Luckily, Arkham City redeemed him.

It wasn't a great movie, but I personally liked it better than Batman Forever or Batman Returns. I still liked Mr Freeze despite all the other nonsense going on in the movie. *nods meaningfully at nothing like George Clooney.*

Sad story indeed, even sadder if you take into account her becoming Lazara after being put into a Lazarus Pit.

JasonRocket In reply to Ultima-Wraith [2013-08-03 16:51:40 +0000 UTC]
I was initially glad to hear that Nora's history was rewritten in the New 52, in the hopes that the whole Lazara thing had been undone, but apparently the revisions include making her a girl who was frozen in 40's and Victor Fries is a research scientist at Wayne Enterprises who becomes obsessed with her. So they changed him from tragic figure to psycho like most of Baman's other villains.

Yeah, and I'm like 80% sure that Lazara is going to happen again :/
