The first in my series of classic Mirage style TMNT. Everybody gets the classic red bandanna, but the background colors correspond to their cartoon bandannas.Related content

In the original comics all the Turtles wore red masks and brown leather knee/elbow pads. When the cartoons and action figures came out they decided to color code them so kids would have an easier time telling them apart.

oh my bad, was going by the origanial cartoon that i grew up with where they had the different colors and their initial in their belt. Sorry for that.

No biggie. I grew up with that cartoon too, so when I picked up my first issue of the original Mirage TMNT comics and they all had red masks on the cover I was quite baffled. To add to the confusion, that issue featured Michelangelo using a club instead of his customary nunchaku, so I thought for a few pages there was a fifth turtle they left out of the cartoon.
