***SPOILERS FOR PART 1 OF THE SERIES FINALE!!!***

...Yup, plot twist time! I hate to do the cliffhanger cliche (That's a lie, I LOVE IT!!! ), but y'all will have to wait until Part 2 this weekend... but trust me, you DON'T wanna miss it!

WARNING: Analysis is KINDA long

Jasper's ACTUAL Thoughts: (Gulp) Well, this is it... the ACTUAL beginning of the end - the final three episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And how does it start off? ....Pretty solid, actually! First of all, I wanna tackle two elephants in the room: the first being, of course, the twist with Discord being Grogar the whole time. Yes, I will admit, it would've been cool to see the ACTUAL Grogar in action and I kind of wish they kept him as his own character... but the twist with Discord actually works in three ways - 1) Big Jim Miller actually says that this was intentional because they wanted to have the final big baddies be someone FAMILIAR to the Mane 6 (I.E. three major villains from the past) ...it kinda makes more sense them letting them take the backseat for some noobie god who only got like... a HALDFUL of episodes 2) they hide it well - Grogar always disappearing on "missions", Discord frequently mentioning how Twilight really is ready to be head honcho of Equestria. 3) It shows what happens when Discord's methods of teaching completely BACKFIRES on him (I can't remember if it's been shown before. If it has, please let me know in the comments). Think about it - Discord always uses unconventional/trolling methods of teaching to try and help the ponies/teach them a lesson... and it usually ends up working. But after so many times his methods worked out, he becomes overconfident and ends up over his head... and it ends up biting him in the flank! This is actually the reality check he needed to show that mischief isn't always the best solution. Yes, he did a REALLY stupid... but I can kinda understand what he was going for trying to help his friends gain the confidence they really need... so yeah, kinda split with this. The second issue I keep hearing about - Tirek's excuse for not being able to control Chaos Magic when he didn't have issues with it in Season 4. I think I have a theory about what makes this different: if you recall, in Twilight's Kingdom, Tirek had already absorbed practically all of Equestrian Magic before betraying Discord. He had grown enormous, and achieved level mohawk! So, my theory.... maybe the magic he already absorbed balanced out the chaos magic? I might be wrong, but I'm just going off of how big and hairy Tirek was by the time he took Discord's magic. As for MY issues... eh, it was mostly how useless the Royal Guards, Pillars, and Celestia and Luna were in their respective fights (Seriously, the Pillars get smacked ONCE and they're down for the count), but that's just small potatoes. Everything else - the Mane 6's battle with Cozy Glow, Starlight's duel with Chrysalis, the ending cliffhanger, and the Mean 3 using fear to cause paranoia and segregation... REALLY excellent work (Seriously, Pinkie has a Party BAZOOKA now? I WANT ONE!!!). However, there is ONE very important lesson that needs to be taught... DON'T LOOK AWAY FROM AN EXPLOSION BECAUSE IT MAY NOT ACTUALLY BE OVER YET!!!!!
