This is amazing!! I loved nine, until Christopher Eccleston dissed the show. You can't really blame him for being played by a jerk, though...

SomniumAstrum In reply to Monkeygal12345 [2014-07-18 15:34:13 +0000 UTC]

Um, not sure what you've heard but he actually left because crew members were being bullied by their bosses and nobody would do anything about it. I'd say that was the opposite of a jerk, actually.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Monkeygal12345 In reply to SomniumAstrum [2014-07-18 18:08:29 +0000 UTC]

That may have been the case, but he worded that a little oddly in an interview, making it sound like he left for bad reasons.

SomniumAstrum In reply to Monkeygal12345 [2014-07-19 12:41:12 +0000 UTC]

Was this recorded? Because newspapers, magazines etc. are known to twist words and make things up to make things sound more 'dramatic'. Even if it was recoded, everyone makes mistakes. I've only ever heard / heard of him speaking well of the show, personally.

Monkeygal12345 In reply to SomniumAstrum [2014-07-19 14:48:04 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it wasn't. I'll listen carefully to the recorded message and let you know what I think

Christopher also makes it a point to not go back to things he's already done. That's why he didn't do a cameo in the 50th anni.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Monkeygal12345 In reply to EpikalStorms [2014-08-30 11:13:54 +0000 UTC]

True. If an actor portrays the Doctor for too long, all people see in that actor is the Doctor and he can't be in any other movies without seeming a bit out of place.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EpikalStorms In reply to Monkeygal12345 [2014-08-31 03:24:13 +0000 UTC]

And that's the thing. It's just how Christopher works. Did you know he was the leader of the dark elves in Thor: The Dark World?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Monkeygal12345 In reply to EpikalStorms [2014-08-31 11:53:28 +0000 UTC]

I did, actually. And I listened to the interview. Though he was quite rude, you were right. He doesn't want to go back, because some of the producers are jerks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EpikalStorms In reply to Monkeygal12345 [2014-08-31 20:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, it happens. Some people don't really like some other people too well and they aren't afraid to make it public.Β
Like, just as an example since I know Christopher never worked with Moffat, really, but I'd not be too fond of working with him either.

Monkeygal12345 In reply to EpikalStorms [2014-08-31 21:06:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Moffat was good at planning long timelines and creating creepy scenes/aliens, but not much else. During season 5, the show took a turn and started going a bit downhill. Being a huge fan of the classics, I'm used to confusing plots, but some things were just bad. I probably wouldn't have been able to figure anything out if my friends hadn't already spoiled it all for me.

EpikalStorms In reply to Monkeygal12345 [2014-08-31 23:11:46 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I literally survived off of spoilers for most of season seven. And even the ones before that. Davies was pretty good at it. But Moffat....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Monkeygal12345 In reply to EpikalStorms [2014-08-31 23:24:30 +0000 UTC]

Davies has flaws, too. He isn't as great as Moffatt at long timelines and creepy stuff. He's still me favorite writer, though.
I know all of the *River Song impression* SPOILERS for season 7. Thanks a lot, Facebook.

Oh gosh, what an amazing piece of art! I simply love how everything's somewhat in motion and at the same time frozen, how he appears solid and yet desintegrated. It fits the Time Vortex (so great choice of a title there) and his later regeneration so well. And good grief, his expression. He almost looks like a God himself in this - all-knowing and all-seeing.

This truly is a stunning picture, and definitely one of the best and most astonishing arts for the ninth Doctor that I have come across till now. Though I love the others, too, he still is my favourite. So thanx for appreciating this incarnation that otherwise is so highly underrated.
