The background really helps solidify the mood that you're portraying here. I personally would love to see more backgrounds in your artwork because they just add so much more to the setting! Great work

It's how you improve friend.
How I started was to look at bases and try the different poses to figure out anatomy.
Other helpful ways to learn is look at artists you admire and take pieces of it you like and try it yourself.

I really try my best... but it seems as if I am still not good enough, or plateaued on pathetic doodles, rather than make things I find appealing.
The exception is when I do a scene... something I desire above all, like gifts and such, and while not perfect, to me, it pours myself into a piece.

Not because I want to hurt you and you need to understand that.
And if you can't take critisism -even the toned down stuff I tell you- you SHOULDN'T draw. No offense to you but you have to understand that as a "good" artist I deal with WORSE and NOBODY tried to help me when I was new.
If you WANT to do those scenes you HAVE to start small.
I started with copying poses in pony creator.
Everyone has to start somewhere and build my friend.
As for emotion the truth is no matter HOW much force drives you...unless you are driven to improve and better yourself by taking advice you will NEVER capture that image.
I think my stuff is SHIT and I have a ton of life put behind it.

I know you want to help, and I can accept that, it it just I feel so emotional lately when it comes to things other than art, it reflects onto my art. it is not an excuse, and I don't want to feel as if it makes me immune to helpful comments, but.. I just get hurt too, even by simple things like. "oh, sure it'll be better next time."
I feel I used to pull everything off well, and have poses that work, and some I leave to practice later on. I balance things, that is the best I can describe it as. I feel bad when one element ruins the pic... and it upsets me greatly, to a point I nearly gave up sharing work.
It makes sens.. but at the same time, like with something like the Kijani incident, I don't want all the emotions portrayed... Honestly? I get disturbed seeing characters hurt, as it it is dealing with deep seated fears I have (some very real, others, imagined) i want the image I choose to be a snapshot of the scene, yet tell a story on its own. It is hard to balance.
I don't want everything to be just the life I want, the perfect blending of hybrids living happy together somehow.. I want and desire conflict, however, that conflict brings up my own personal fires I am trying to put out. and while not all are that way, it is me I am putting up, nonetheless, in every pic.From simple gift art, to something I want to share.

And as a warning I forgot to give you...you may be the "jackass" but I am her royal "bitch"
I will react like you would if it was me in this situation. I.e rant on how much of an idiot I can be sometimes when I get to emotionally distressed.
In the end it's still ART. Whether others like or not. Whether you fuck up or not.
The thing you have to consider is: Do YOU like it? Did you do your best? Did you try? And damn straight did it feel good to do it?

it is understandable.. but, in my case, my jackass, and bluntness helps others. Perhaps not all the time, but telling my panicking darling that "stop worry, and fucking get it done" does more than "it'll be ok" does... in the grand scheme, it is tact that I use, not just bluntness
you can be distressed, just as I can.. I believe it out not, have a good number of friends, but some sadly don't like talking, as they know I am both complex, yet very simple. I want us to be better in a year, not stuck where we are.
to answer your questions. FOR THE MOST PART, yes, I like it! I pretty much did as best as I could. I tried something new, and yes, felt like recreation well spent.
